Ingredients 

Main Ingredients

  • 1 lb Dried split peas
  • 1 Ham bone or 2 cups diced ham
  • 1 cup Chopped onion
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots Chopped
  • 2 stalks Celery, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Dried thyme
  • 6 cups Chicken broth
  • to taste Salt and pepper

Instructions 

  1. 1. Rinse the split peas under cold water.
  2. 2. In a large pot, combine all ingredients except salt and pepper.
  3. 3. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 90 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. 4. Remove the ham bone, chop any meat, and return to the pot.
  5. 5. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve hot.
