Beignet Ingredients
- 2 cups All-purpose flour
- 1 cup Warm water
- ¼ cup Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 2 teaspoon Active dry yeast
- 1 cup Powdered sugar for dusting
- 1 quart Vegetable oil for frying
In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for 10 minutes until frothy.
Add flour, salt, and vanilla extract to the yeast mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
Cover the bowl with a damp cloth and let the dough rise for 1 hour.
Heat oil in a frying pan to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to ¼ inch thickness. Cut into squares.
Fry the dough squares in batches until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
Remove beignets from oil and drain on paper towels. Dust generously with powdered sugar before serving.
